Mission Statement

Today is February 23rd, 2022, and this is my mission statement.

I’ve always been a man of ideas. Whether good or bad, realistic or not, I can’t stop thinking of ideas and unique ways of implementing them. Sometimes, my brain works so fast that I have a hard time communicating those ideas to others. The ideas sound wonderful in my head; something so genius it’s amazing no one else has thought of it. But when it’s time to communicate it out loud, I stumble on my words like I’m Yosemite Sam, confusing everyone around me, including myself.

So I took it upon myself to really think. What is it that I’m trying to accomplish? Why is it that my brain can never shut up? Why is it that I want to do so many things and feel like I have such little time to actually start any of it? I dusted off my iPad which was only being used for watching YouTube videos and letting my daughter play games on it, and put that thing to work (the iPad, not my daughter… she’s 3). I grabbed my Apple Pencil knockoff that I got on Amazon for $25 and works JUST AS WELL as the $120 Apple Pencil I recently lost (and can’t find for the life of me) and frantically started writing down every idea I could.

Night after night, after my wife and daughter had gone to bed, and all of my responsibilities for the day (work, family and otherwise) were complete, I’d sit on the coach in our living room and write. And I came up with pages of notes. One idea flowing into another; some realistic within the confines of my schedule and some absolutely asinine, but I didn’t care. I just wrote whatever I could think of. Then, the next morning, I would stare at those notes that I wrote at midnight and find ways to make it work.

The common thread behind all of those ideas was simple.

I want to create. I just want to freaking create.

Whether it’s video, music or any other medium, I love creating something out of nothing and putting it out in the world. But I also like teaching. I was a private piano instructor for many years before I started working at my current job, where I produce and edit educational content for the customers of that company. It’s hilarious, because I was a terrible student… but I’m a good teacher. Dare I’d say, a really good one.

And then it hit me. I’ve been avoiding the obvious for so long… like a shadow that’s been following me for years that finally found it’s way in front of me so I can see it. I’ll entertain, and compose and teach and anything else that pertains to the space of someone who wants to create content and help others do it as well.

Which brings us to now. Starting today, this website, my YouTube channel and my social media accounts will primarily focus on my relationship with music, how I approach writing and recording music, breaking it down and teaching techniques and little hacks I’ve learned along the way. I’ll also release covers and original music on a regular basis, and may even include a Patreon page where certain tiers get access to exclusive content. I want to pass my knowledge and my passion down to others and entertain along the way.

Expect a lot of content to be released. It’s taken me a while to get here, but now that I know what my creative future looks like, I’m very excited to hit the ground running. Thank you for your time, and please consider subscribing to my newsletter for updates and more info.
